Comments on Al-Jazeera’s 101 East on ‘Allah’ Issue

Yusri Mohammad (read: ABIM) needs a good reason to not letting the Catholics to use the word Allah.
The fact that the national fatwa council has issued a fatwa saying that the word Allah is exclusive to the Muslims only, however, cannot be considered as a good reason.
For one, the fatwa council is not seen as a credible one, with all due respects.
Secondly, you can argue whether or not, non-Muslims are bound to the fatwa. i bet the high court did not even give a D to the fatwa when they made the rulings. Even some Muslims don’t give a D to fatwa. Simple example, fatwa on smoking cigarette by the late Datuk Ishak Baharom. So, what to expect, meh.
Credits to Yusri anyway. He presented his ideas well and redeemed ABIM’s reputation (see here), although the validity of his arguments is very well open for discussions.
A bit turned off by Khalid Samad, for not respecting Yusri when the latter speaks. Bad example. Entertaining, however. But I pity Yusri.
